Ballet Summer Festival
In 2018, the Year of Russian Ballet, the Moscow State Ballet Theater headed by Lyudmila Titova launched a new project, the Ballet Summer Festival, which was held in July with great success. To commemorate the 200th birthday of Marius Petipa, the theater presented masterpieces of the great master, i.e. The Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake and Nutcracker.
In 2019, the Ballet Summer Festival is dedicated to the Year of Theater in Russia. The festival will be held from June 15 to June 23 at the new venue with a larger capacity, i.e. the Central Academic Theater of the Russian Army at the following address: Moscow, Suvorovskaya Ploshchad, 2 (Dostoevskaya metro station). Two beautiful plays about love will be added to the repertoire – “Romeo and Juliet” by S. Prokofiev and “Giselle” by A. Adan, as well as the ballet for the whole family “Thumbelina” to the music by P.I. Tchaikovsky, staged by Honored Artist of Russia Irina Lazareva.
In 2020, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the festival did not take place, but in July 2021 we will return to the stage of the Russian Army Theater to perform our favorite ballets. All performances of the Moscow State Ballet will be accompanied by live music performed by the Préféré Orchestra.
Warm summer evenings are the perfect time to go to the theater. Moscow citizens and guests will see full-length performances with colorful decorations and costumes that most fully convey the spirit of a particular era. Harmonious work of the corps de ballet, virtuosity of the soloists, charming sincerity of the main cast will bring you a lot of pleasure no matter if you are a ballet lover or an ordinary spectator.
During the festival, the hall of the theater of the Russian Army will host an exhibition of new works by the impressionist artist Mikhail Yusupov “P.Tchaikovsky and the Great Russian Ballerinas”.
